Interior demolition in Mijas: Pueblo, Mijas Costa and Las Lagunas

Interior demolition in Mijas means three settings in one municipality: whitewashed houses on the hillside of Mijas Pueblo, apartment complexes along Mijas Costa and the shops and offices of Las Lagunas next to Fuengirola.

In short

We carry out interior demolition across Mijas – kitchen and bathroom strip-outs, wall removal and full strip-outs of apartments, houses and commercial units – and take the sorted rubble to an authorised facility. Mijas has an official declaración responsable for works and requires prior authorisation for works affecting the public road. Owners abroad can coordinate everything with us in English.

Strip out in Mijas: which part of the municipality are you in?

Mijas Pueblo, the administrative centre, is a whitewashed hillside village at about 430 m. Down by the sea are La Cala de Mijas, a coastal resort, and the Mijas Costa developments such as Calahonda and Riviera; Las Lagunas, beside Fuengirola, is the residential and commercial hub. Each area brings its own constraints:

AreaTypical propertyWhat shapes the strip-out
Mijas PuebloVillage houses on steep streetsHand loading, short carries, attached walls
Calahonda, Riviera, La CalaApartments and townhouses in complexesCommunity rules, lift protection, parking for the container
Las LagunasFlats, shops and officesCommercial hours, street-level loading

Kitchen strip-out in Mijas apartments

The most common request from Mijas Costa owners is a kitchen strip-out together with one or two bathrooms, often in properties bought as holiday homes years ago and now being renovated. Units, worktops, appliances, tiles and sanitary ware come out, water and power to the rooms are made safe by your installer, and the walls are left ready for the new fit-out.

Where the owner wants an open-plan kitchen, we can take down the partition in the same visit. If there is any doubt about whether that wall carries load, your técnico decides before we touch it; in a block under propiedad horizontal the community must be informed before walls or structure are demolished.

Village houses in Mijas Pueblo

Mijas still shows remains of its old town wall, and up in Mijas Pueblo houses are often attached on both sides and reached by steep, narrow lanes. A strip-out there is closer to careful hand demolition than to a quick clear-out: thick walls of mixed masonry, lime renders and old tiled floors are taken apart piece by piece so that the shared walls and the roof stay stable.

We usually load rubble into bags, move it by barrow or hand to where a small truck can stop, and plan the number of trips before quoting. If a beam, a vault or an old timber floor appears once finishes are removed, we stop that area and let your técnico decide how to proceed.

Shops and offices in Las Lagunas

Las Lagunas has a dense mix of ground-floor commercial units under residential floors. A commercial strip-out there typically removes counters, partitions, suspended ceilings, floor finishes and old signage. Because neighbours live above, we agree noisy work with the community and keep dust inside the unit with sealed openings and extraction where needed.

Paperwork, the street and the waste in Mijas

Mijas town hall uses an official declaración responsable form for works that cites article 293.1 of the Andalusian planning regulation (RGLISTA). Works that affect the public road – a container on the street, for instance – need prior authorisation. Your técnico prepares and files what is required; we work with that documentation and coordinate dates with them.

The town hall also requires a deposit or guarantee (fianza) for construction and demolition waste, returned once delivery to an authorised manager is proven. That is why we hand over the justificantes de entrega for every load. For whole-building demolition in the municipality, our sister site covers demolition in Mijas.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work in Mijas Pueblo where vans cannot park at the door?

Yes. We plan short hand carries to the nearest loading point and remove rubble in smaller loads, which is normal for hillside village streets.

Do you need a permit to put a container in Calahonda?

If the container occupies the public road, Mijas requires prior authorisation; inside a private complex, the community decides where it may stand.

What is the waste fianza in Mijas?

It is a deposit or guarantee the town hall asks for construction and demolition waste, returned when delivery to an authorised manager is proven. The amount depends on the municipal ordinance.

Can you strip out a holiday apartment in La Cala outside the busy season?

Yes, and many owners prefer it. We agree dates with you and the administrator so the work fits the community's calendar.

Do you remove old built-in wardrobes and doors too?

Yes, carpentry is part of a strip-out. Wood is sorted separately from the mineral rubble before it leaves the property.

Can you strip a shop in Las Lagunas while the flats above are occupied?

Yes. We schedule the noisiest tasks with the community and seal the unit to keep dust away from the common areas.

How is rubble lowered from a top-floor apartment?

In bags by the lift, if the community allows it, or by the stairs; on some buildings a closed chute or a hoist can be used with the necessary permissions.

Can I see examples of your work?

Our projects page shows photos of our own jobs, described only by what each photo shows; location and date are not published.

Is a skip allowed on the street outside?

Placing a skip or materials on the public road needs the town hall's authorisation. In many apartment jobs bags are loaded directly onto a vehicle instead.

What happens to old radiators and boilers?

If they are in the scope, they are disconnected by the installer and removed; the metal is separated from the rest of the waste.
